Siamese and Orientals
The Siamese Breed
Gr Ch Tamarind's Valentino
The Siamese is one of the most well known and an instantly recognised cat breed around the world. The Siamese is distinguished by its brilliant blue eyes and its coloured "points" (ears, face, tail and legs) which provide a striking contrast to its light-coloured body. The show-quality Siamese display a very long, slender body type, and a long, wedge-shaped head with large ears.
Siamese are extra-everything! They are extremely social cats and will want to spend every minute with you. Given half the chance they will expect you to share your food (even stealing it off your plate!), your bed and your life, often following you around from room to room demanding your full attention!
They are super intelligent and affectionate cats and can even learn to “play fetch”. Siamese often attach themselves to one human and develop a “dog-like” devotion to their chosen human. They are energetic and very agile. They are very vocal and talkative cats so will not be the breed to choose if you are looking for a quiet companion!
They do not like to be left alone for long periods. They need companionship whether from their owner, another cat or even a dog. Siamese tend to settle best with cats of their own type such as Burmese or Orientals but are very territorial and may tend to bully less domineering breeds such as the longhairs.

The Oriental Breed
Ch Hasimo Takara
The Oriental are like the Siamese in body type and personality. They share the long, fine-boned legs and tail, tubular body, wedge-shaped head and large ears. They have green eye colour generally instead of blue like the Siamese and their colour is not limited to the “points” like the Siamese.
Orientals share a similar temperament to the Siamese in that they are outgoing, talkative, playful, acrobatic, and energetic.
Both Siamese and Orientals require very little grooming with a good brush once a week sufficient. It is also good to hand-groom to keep the coat shiny. Rubbing the coat with a chamois leather also helps.
